Heaton Park Synagogue Attack: One Victim Appears to Have Been Fired Upon by Officers

During a tragic development, one of the individuals killed during the Heaton Park synagogue assault appears to have been shot dead by law enforcement personnel.

Police Announcement Reveals Gunshot Wound

The senior officer of Greater Manchester Police stated that a forensic expert has provisionally determined the victim succumbed to a bullet injury.

“We sought guidance overnight from the Home Office pathologist ahead of detailed autopsies set to occur later today. The expert has advised that he has provisionally determined one of the deceased victims likely sustained a wound matching a gunshot injury.”

Attacker Information

The suspect, a 35-year-old individual, did not have a gun, and the only shots fired were by the police officers on site.

Authorities think the deceased was part of the group positioned at the entrance trying to stop the assailant from entering the building.

Outcome of Intervention

“Thus, it appears pending additional analysis, the wound was unfortunately incurred as a tragic and unforeseen consequence of the necessary rapid response employed by our personnel to bring this vicious attack to an end.”

Names Released

Both individuals killed in the attack at Heaton Park synagogue located in Manchester on Thursday were identified as Adrian Daulby, aged 53 and Melvin Cravitz, 66 years old.

The men were killed when a vehicle was employed to ram into the property of the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue, then stabbed worshippers in a six-minute rampage that ended only when armed officers shot at him twice, ending his life at the door of the temple.

Additional Injuries

Three more people were seriously injured in the attack on Yom Kippur, the most sacred occasion in the Jewish calendar.

Watson said, “Medical professionals have informed us that one of the three victims now hospitalized sustained a firearm injury, which is mercifully not life threatening. It is believed the two individuals were close together at the entrance, as attendees showed courage to stop the assailant from getting inside.”

Ongoing Assistance

“Our thoughts and prayers are directed toward the affected relatives, and broader public, touched by these events in the region and elsewhere. Trained personnel are offering aid and care for all of those directly affected, including the courageous emergency teams.”

Suspect Background

Authorities identified the attacker as the individual, thirty-five, a British citizen of Syrian descent.

Local law enforcement reported that three additional individuals – two men in their 30s and an older female – had been detained “for alleged commission, preparation and instigation of terrorist activities”.
